Jonathan Sobelman

With over 30 years of dedication to the behavioral health industry, Jonathan has established a remarkable track record of driving progress within successful organizations. His deep expertise encompasses critical areas like utilization review, compliance, accreditation, and performance improvement, enabling himself to navigate complex environments with strategic precision and operational excellence. In 1994, he earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of South Florida in psychology with a minor in sociology, followed by a master's in mental health counseling in 1998 at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). He further strengthened his expertise with an MBA from NSU in 2001 and became a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida in 2005.

Jonathan's leadership shines brightest during organizational transitions. Skilled in facilitating due diligence, leading acquisitions, and implementing new management structures, he ensures seamless change with minimal disruption. This expertise is honed through prior roles at industry leaders like HCA Healthcare, Magellan Behavioral Health, United Healthcare, and Broadspire Global TPA (now Aetna).

However, Jonathan's value extends beyond technical prowess. Personal and professional experiences have instilled invaluable qualities such as resilience, empathy, and a steadfast commitment to growth. These underpin his leadership style, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture where everyone thrives.

While passionate about healthcare, Jonathan embraces a well-rounded life beyond the boardroom. His love for 80s music, appreciation for fine cuisine (pizza and wings included!), and adventurous spirit add another dimension to his personality. Kristy Mattson-Haage

Co-Owner

With a legacy of helping others etched in her DNA and 17 years of personal recovery fueling her passion, Kristy stands tall as co-owner of the Florida Oasis, a family business carrying her mother Holly's dream. Kristy's journey in this realm began over two decades ago, where she witnessed firsthand the transformative power of support and healing while working in her mother's behavioral health program and numerous halfway houses.

A South Florida native, Kristy thrives on balancing the joys of being a dedicated wife and mother with her passion for community involvement and, most importantly, helping others. PTA meetings, HOA volunteering, and whipping up family feasts are just a few ways she channels her vibrant energy. At The Florida Oasis, she ensures that same spirit of service inspires every staff member, keeping her mother's dream of helping those in need alive and well.

Scott Sobelman

MS-Chief Operating Officer

Scott, Chief Operating Officer, orchestrates The Florida Oasis' smooth flow, ensuring a sanctuary for families and patients facing mental health challenges. His vision weaves a seamless tapestry: a thriving workplace and a nurturing refuge where hope blossoms.

With a Florida State University education and a master’s in hospitality management degree in 2003 from FIU, Scott's 20 years in the field are his true training ground. He honed his expertise across clinics, each step sharpening his knowledge and passion. Before The Oasis, he freelanced, mastering both business and clinical nuances.

Leadership for Scott isn't just numbers. He thrives on learning, teaching, and sharing the journey with patients and staff. Reducing stigma, providing top-notch care, and leaving a positive impact are his guiding stars.

"The Oasis should be more than a facility," Scott says. "It's about empowerment and change, one smile at a time."

Under Scott's baton, The Florida Oasis plays a harmonious tune, a melody of healing and hope resonating long after the curtain falls.

Tyler Haage

Admissions and Operations

Tyler juggles admissions magic, staff guidance, and property care at The Florida Oasis, ensuring seamless transitions and top-notch hospitality for every client. He's woven into the community, fostering vital relationships with healthcare providers to benefit both clients and the organization.

Tyler's journey began in Rhode Island, his passion for recovery blooming early. Drawn to Florida's sunshine and possibilities, he relocated in 2010, navigating diverse roles to deepen his understanding.

Family fuels his fire – a decade of marriage and two daughters adding meaning and depth. Exercise keeps him balanced, body and mind, ready to make a positive impact.

Tyler's dedication weaves a smooth path to healing, making him an Oasis cornerstone and a recovery champion.

Bertha Henry

Primary Therapist

Bertha Henry brings her diverse experience and empathy to her role as a Primary Therapist at Florida Oasis. Drawn to the supportive community, strong empathy, calming atmosphere, and caring team at Florida Oasis, Bertha found her professional home as a Primary Therapist.

Bertha blends her Cuban and European heritage into her unique perspective as a therapist. She balances her dedication to her clients with the joys of her family life as a wife and mother of a grown daughter.

Bertha built her foundation with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a Finance minor from Florida International University, followed by a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Phoenix.

Over her diverse career, Bertha has honed her therapeutic skills across various age groups, from children and adolescents to adults. Prior to joining Florida Oasis, Bertha spent seven years at a private agency, where her journey began as a therapist in elementary, middle, and high schools. Her dedication and expertise led to a promotion to Targeted Case Manager Supervisor. She's treated patients across the spectrum of mental health, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. 

Outside of her clinical practice, Bertha cherishes spending time with her family, exploring new destinations through travel, and indulging in a bit of retail therapy.

Nicole Terry

MSW, Primary Therapist

Nicholle Terry, a master weaver of well-being, brings her eight years of diverse therapeutic experience to The Florida Oasis. A licensed registered Master of Social Work, she's passionate about empowering individuals to build and maintain healthy lives.
Nicholle specializes in tackling negative patterns, challenging outdated self-beliefs, and unraveling internal conflicts that hold back inner peace. Her approach is collaborative, weaving together personalized strategies to help clients reach their goals.
Rooted in Texas, Nicholle earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from UT El Paso before journeying to Arizona State for her Master's in Social Work. When she's not supporting others in their mental health journeys, Nicholle cherishes time with her family and friends. This mom of two loves the outdoors, exploring new horizons, and cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys (Go 'Boys!).
At The Florida Oasis, Nicholle is drawn to the unique tapestry of compassion that forms a warm, supportive community. Witnessing how this safe atmposphere fosters growth and healing in its residents fills her with immense gratitude.

Maryann Mayo

LCSW-Therapist

Maryann Mayo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LMSW, LCSW) with a Master of Science degree in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University, New York and a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science /Psychology from Stony Brook University, New York. 

She has many years of experience in a variety of settings in both the private and public sector serving various populations and ages in the area of mental and physical health. Maryann has demonstrated her ability to function as a highly visible leader, an excellent communicator, critical thinker and a member of an executive leadership team throughout her years as Executive Director of a non-profit organization (Voices for Children), Co-Founder of a national preventive healthcare company (Health Management Resources) and Director of Employee Assistance Program for a Fortune 500 company (Cigna HealthCare). 

As Co-Founder of a preventive healthcare organization part of her responsibility was to create innovative services while responsible for patient care and the planning, organization, staffing and supervision of behavioral programs around the country. As the Executive Director for Voices for Children it was essential that she maintain the overall strategic vision of the organization while working collaboratively with the Board of Directors to ensure organizational integrity, viability, and growth. 

As a clinician, when providing direct patient care she is passionate and diligent in her quest to ensure that the quality of clinical treatment remain high while the dignity, value and respect for each client be maintained and always ensured. She has worked in a variety of mental health treatment settings demonstrating knowledge of individual, group, couples and family behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influence, ethnicity, cultures and their history and origins. 

She has certified knowledge of human behavior and individual differences in ability, personality, and interest, learning and motivation and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She has demonstrated her clinical expertise in the area of alcohol and drug addiction, depression, anxiety, problem resolution, coping skills, conflict resolution, anger management and dual diagnosis. Ms. Mayo has devoted her career to the service of others who need help actualizing their desire to live a healthy, productive life. 

Michael Femenia

Clinical Liasson

Michael isn't just a Clinical Liaison at The Florida Oasis, he's a champion for mental wellness. Originally from New York, he's called Florida home for much of his adult life, driven by a belief in reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness and addiction.

His passion for empowering people shines through his psychoeducational approach. He earned his bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Central Florida and a master's in professional counseling from South University, but his learning never stops.

Nearly a decade in the social sciences has gifted him experience as a clinician, researcher, and educator. He's counseled, trained on competency restoration, analyzed brains, and taught psychology to undergraduates. His research journey spans clinics, labs, and universities, culminating in insightful publications.

At The Florida Oasis, Michael's dedication unfolds on two fronts. As a Mental Health Clinician, he once guided clients through individual, group, and family sessions, crafting personalized treatment plans to meet their needs. Now, as Clinical Liaison, he assesses incoming clients, ensures accurate documentation, tracks progress, and facilitates psychoeducational groups, equipping clients with knowledge and understanding.

Beyond work, Michael's love for learning extends to books, chess, and video games. He prioritizes self-care through exercise and cherishes moments with his wife Sasha, playful puppy Pi, and close friends.

Michael's story isn't just about qualifications, it's about passion, purpose, and a deep commitment to empowering others on their mental health journey.
